Just to pre warn – The 16th Dec will be the last week for salsa classes at the Deaf Hub until mid January ( dates to follow) and will also be the Christmas social. There will be a mixed level Rueda class for existing students in the Beginners cuban class slot on the 16th but this may start a little later. This will be followed by a shines & styling workshop, then the social- full details will follow shortly. Anyone welcome to come to the shines workshop & social. Timings & costs to follow shortly.

Latin Quarter latin social, sat 22nd Nov, 8pm till 12pm @ Club Romano, 16 West Wynd, Dundee DD1 4JQ ( just off Perth Road, near Dilsee restaurant) If you’re new to Latin Quarter, its a latin night with music to dance to with a free beginners salsa class at 8pm. Continuing Beginners 5 week salsa course @The Deaf Hub
24 03 2014The current beginners salsa class will continue for a further 5 weeks starting on Tues 1st April at 6.30pm – 7.15pm, at the Deaf Hub, see class page for directions. Course is £4 per class or £15 for a 5 week pass. Class is suitable for those already in the Tuesday beginners class and anyone who has done at least 10 weeks of cross body style salsa classes previously and want to brush up before joining the improvers/ intermediate level class. Come and join us for a night of music and dancing to support two very special schools with the fabulous combination of Angus Wares, Sandy Brechin and Sandy Mathers at The Friary, Tullideph Road, Dundee, DD2 2PN on 22nd March 2014. (BYOB). The pupils at both Kingspark Special School, Dundee and Manos Unidas Special School, Peru experience a range of challenges, including profound and multiple learning difficulties, behavioural challenges and Autism Spectrum Disorder. By coming to this event you will be supporting both schools to provide specialised resources and promote community learning. Latin Quarter Charity Live Band night – Nov 22 with Son al Son

Only 10 days to go ! Come & enjoy some latin spirit with the groovy live SON al SON band @ The Invercarse Hotel, 371 Perth Rd, Dundee, DD2 1PG on Fri 22nd Nov. 8pm-1am. There’s a free Salsa beginners class at 8.15pm to get any newcomers started. The band are FANTASTIC, a rare opportunity to have space to dance to a live salsa band on a huge wooden floor.

The band Son al Son was formed in 2008. Its line-up is made up of musicians from Cuba, Ricardo Fernandes Pompa,(Lead Vocals and Congas), Eric Alfonso (Timbales) from Venezuela, Lino Rocha (lead vocals and hand percussion) from Scotland, Bob Thomson (Bass), Simon Gall (Piano and Vocals) and Lorne Cowieson (Trumpet).
As the name suggests, Son al Son play son, a style of music made popular in 1920’s Havana and more recently in the film “Buena Vista Social Club”. To this day, songs like Chan Chan, El Cuarto Del Tula and Dos Gardenias are played in cafes and bars across Cuba. Son al Son have added songs from La Excelencia, Cubanismo and original songs to bring a more ‘salsa dura’ (hard salsa!) feel to their set. Along with the ‘traditional’ songs (with a salsa twist!) and the modern salsa songs,we’re sure Son al Son will get your feet tapping and out of your seat in no time, Gozar!
