NOT LONG NOW FOLKS – PLEASE get tickets soon online to allow for planning, the venue would like numbers to be submitted a week before the event on 27th September. The online tickets are cheaper than on the door. Online tickets stop at midnight on friday 2nd October too.

Can anyone help advertise the event on social media, email , board at work please. Please bring along any non salsa dancing friends, beginners class at start if they fancy it. The hall is big, there will be some seating & big wooden dance floor. Also the band are great to listen to even if you don’t dance or have friends who don’t dance.

This charity dance is a live band and DJ music (salsa, bachata, kizomba) to raise money for Azul Wasi children’s home in Oropesa, Peru. The money raised at the event goes via UK based charity Peace Child International.

Events details : Doors open at 6.45pm, the event will start with a taster salsa class @ 7pm following by the band at 7.30pm playing 2 sets and to finish off from 9.30pm we have more hours of SBK (Salsa, Bachata & Kizomba) social dancing & animations till about midnight, or later !The venue has a large dance floor and a licensed bar (CARDS ONLY) . There will be a pre drawn fund raising raffle for Azul Wasi in the break.

The night is another celebration of 23 years of the Azul Wasi (formerly Blooming Colibri) homes in Peru and Latin Quarter fund raising classes & events. Come and spice up your life ! and help raise money for Azul Wasi at the same time.

Latin Quarter Charity Social – Friday 11th September @ The Deaf Hub. Old Mill, 23, Brown St, Dundee. DD1 5EF.

8pm – Bachata Fusion class. Suitable for total beginners and improver level. We’ll learn the basic steps of bachata then a short sequence of moves.

LEVEL 2 Latin Quarter BOOTCAMP
TUES 11th August @ the Deaf Hub.
FAST TRACK your dance journey ! After a 2nd bootcamp you should be ready to hit the dance floor at socials !

open to those who attended the first salsa bootcamp and to anyone who ha the basic salsa steps already or to improvers who want to refresh skills. LEVEL 2 salsa bootcamp is NOT for total beginners, its for those who have already done the basic steps and turns.

in level 2 salsa we will continue from the first bootcamp and learn how to lead / follow in more foundation steps, turns and sequences.

What to expect :

The Bootcamp will consist of a 2.5 hour learning session (includes a short break half way), then at the end there will be a short guided session to practise what you have learnt.

Salsa originates from Cuba but is danced around the world now, there are different styles of Salsa. We will be learning On 1 Salsa.

Salsa is a partner dance but you don’t need a partner to attend, we will usually change partners during the class. However if you come with a partner and don’t want to change partners this can also be accommodated.

Dancing is fun and great for your brain. It can improve confidence , rhythm & co ordination. It’s also great for socialising and meeting new people !

We are very friendly at Latin Quarter and hold regular monthly socials, weekly classes, live latin band nights and try to organise class meals out too to provide many opportunities to chat outside of classes. Many friendships have been formed from dance classes and even a romantic relationship or two over the years !

Never had the time to learn to dance salsa or bachata in weekly classes ? Here is your chance to learn the equivalent of 4 or 5 weeks of weekly classes all in one evening ! FAST TRACK your dance journey ! 
After one bootcamp you should be ready to hit the dance floor at socials !

A bootcamp is an intensive accelerated learning experience designed for total beginners or for anyone needing to refresh the basics.The Bootcamps consist of a 2.5 hour learning session (includes a short break half way), then at the end there will be a short guided session to practise what you have learnt.   

There will be limited places to enable quality teaching time.

Around the world at latin socials both salsa & bachata music is often played so it’s good to learn the basics of both. 

Salsa originates from Cuba but is danced around the world now, there are different styles of Salsa. We will be learning On 1 Salsa. 
Bachata originates from the Dominican Republic, there are different styles of Bachata dance, such as, traditional, sensual, moderna etc. We will be combining basic moderna turn patterns and a few other elements in our Bachata fusion bootcamp.
In both bootcamps we will learn the essential footwork, basic turn patterns, the rhythm and a few moves. 

Salsa and Bachata are partner dances but you don’t need a partner to attend, we will usually change partners during the class.  However if you come with a partner and don’t want to change partners this can also be accommodated. 
Dancing is fun and great for your brain. It can improve confidence , rhythm & co ordination.  It’s also great for socialising and meeting new people !

THIS tuesday in the breaks between Latin Quarter Deaf Hub classes Weronika will be in the cafe area @ The Deaf Hub doing a thermomix demo and making berry ice creams for sale for Azul Wasi, £1.50 each ( or more if you want to donate). Please come & support it even if you aren’t in classes pop along & try one. Thermomix are very popular in Europe apparently, they make wonderful cakes too and many more things.

The ice creams will be available 7pm to 7.25ish pm & 8pm to 8.30pm ish, please come early for classes to try one folks.

Big thanks to everyone who came to the social and bachata class on Tuesday @ the Deaf Hub, we raised £ 181.56 for Azul Wasi which is great. Thanks to Ursa for helping on the door and shopping experience! and to Tania for all her help on the night.

Next Tuesday are the last classes in this block of Latin Quarter weekly classes before the summer break. We have a treat with Weronika coming to do a thermomix ice cream demo in the cafe area around class change over times, between 7 and 7. 25 ish and 8 to 8.30ish, so please come a bit earlier for classes to support if you can . Also anyone else is welcome to pop down for an ice cream even if you arent in the tuesday classes. Berry ice creams are £1.50 or more if you want to to make a donation for Azul Wasi.

Also watch out for details coming soon about 2 new Latin Quarter Bootcamps, in salsa and bachata dance, July 14th & 21st @ The Deaf Hub. A chance to learn the equivalent of 4 or 5 weekly classes all in one evening with a bit of guided practise at the end.
