LATIN QUARTER Salsa & Bachata BOOTCAMPS

27 06 2026

Latin Quarter BOOTCAMPS

Never had the time to learn to dance salsa or bachata in weekly classes ? Here is your chance to learn the equivalent of 4 or 5 weeks of weekly classes all in one evening ! FAST TRACK your dance journey !
After one bootcamp you should be ready to hit the dance floor at socials !

What to expect :

A bootcamp is an intensive accelerated learning experience designed for total beginners or for anyone needing to refresh the basics. The Bootcamps consist of a 2.5 hour learning session (includes a short break half way), then at the end there will be a short guided session to practise what you have learnt.

There will be limited places to enable quality teaching time.

Where & when :

Salsa – Tuesday 14th July, Bachata – Tuesday 21st July

6.30-9.30pm @ The Deaf Hub,Old Mill, 23, Brown St, Dundee. DD1 5EF
Directions to Deaf hub on class page at www.salsadundee.com.

Please note : there is no car parking outside the deaf hub (may get a parking ticket), best to park on Brown street.

More information:

Around the world at latin socials both salsa & bachata music is often played so it’s good to learn the basics of both.

Salsa originates from Cuba but is danced around the world now, there are different styles of Salsa. We will be learning On 1 Salsa.
Bachata originates from the Dominican Republic, there are different styles of Bachata dance, such as, traditional, sensual, moderna etc. We will be combining basic moderna turn patterns and a few other elements in our Bachata fusion bootcamp.
In both bootcamps we will learn the essential footwork, basic turn patterns, the rhythm and a few moves.

Salsa and Bachata are partner dances but you don’t need a partner to attend, we will usually change partners during the class.  However if you come with a partner and don’t want to change partners this can also be accommodated.
Dancing is fun and great for your brain. It can improve confidence , rhythm & co ordination.  It’s also great for socialising and meeting new people !

We are very friendly at Latin Quarter and hold regular monthly socials, weekly classes, live latin band nights and try to organise class meals out too to provide many opportunities to chat outside of classes.  Many friendships have been formed from dance classes and even a romantic relationship or two over the years !

Booking & prices: Ideally try to book a place in advance, please email LQsalsadundee@gmail.com or contact Salsa Dundee- Latin Quarter on facebook messenger. You can book one or  both bootcamps. You can also just turn up on the night.

£25 per bootcamp if book in advance by bank transfer or £30 on the door, CASH ONLY.
Combo deal – book both bootcamps in advance by transfer and get a discount – £45 or £55 on the door.

All money raised for Azul Wasi home for former street children in Peru.

Casual clothes are fine and best to wear shoes with a slippy sole , like a leather sole but fit securely on feet though. Although most regular shoes are fine.

BIG THANK YOU

15 06 2026

A VERY BIG THANK YOU to everyone who came on Saturday to The Latin Quarter Charity Cuban Night to see Conjunto Malecon @ The Clubbee. A special thank you to everyone who travelled from further afield to come along. Also thank you to the band, bar staff and to Patrick, Bernie & John for doing the door & raffle tickets.

Big thank you to Tania & Gemma for our debut performance, an Oshun Orisha inspired dance as part of Tres Chicas.

Thank you to Paco & Hamish for helping with logistics.

A very special thank you to Tania, Bernie & my parents for helping set the room up with the Cuban inspired materials. Also thanks to everyone who donated raffle prizes and to Doug for a very generous donation to Azul Wasi.

We raised £1,197 for the Azul Wasi Children’s home near Oropesa, Peru which is fantastic. Have attached a thank you photo ( as video won’t attach here) from Azul Wasi.

The event was also kindly included as part of the first Play Festival this year, attached below is a QR code if you can give the Dundee Play Forum some feedback please use the participant feedback form.

Does anyone have any nice pictures & videos from the evening or photo booth you can send to me please for this group. I’m trying to gather as much as possible. Please email LQsalsadundee@gmail.com or message sarah salsa on Fbook messenger to arrange transfer please.

There is a taster of the event in the Salsa Dundee – Latin Quarter group. (20+) Salsa Dundee- Latin Quarter | Facebook

There were about 130 folks came including the band & admin staff which is great, but made for a hot room even with the cooling capacity full with windows open & cooling fans on. I know there weren’t enough places for everyone to sit, I was banking on people sharing seats as quite a few of you would be busy on the dance floor most of the night ! So hoping these factors didn’t detract too much from the evening.

The head mic had some interference on the night unfortunately so not sure everyone heard me or what to do in the raffle as there were a few unclaimed prizes. I’ve moved to a different model at band nights. The raffle will be pre drawn during the break and after I call out the top 3 prizes the rest will be on the entry table. So you need to check your ticket numbers at the table to claim the prizes. This means there is more dancing time.

The next Latin Quarter Social is on Tuesday 23rd June @ The Deaf Hub with a Bachata Fusion class at the start, event details coming soon. Anyone welcome to come.

The next Latin Quarter LIVE is on Sunday 4th October @ The Bonar Hall, Dundee. There are 10 early bird tickets at Ticket Tailor, sorry the code wasn’t live on Saturday, was meant to be available to event attendees. Event post coming soon with more details.
