Tickets on sale now for LATIN QUARTER CHARITY SALSA BAND NIGHT with Son Al Son, Latin band on Sat 7th May at The Friary, Tullideph Rd, Dundee DD2 2PN Doors open 8pm, salsa beginners class at 8.15pm, on till 12.30am. Raffle too. Venue has large wooden dance floor. Money raised for the Azul Wasi project for street children near Cusco, Peru.Tickets £10 (£7 students) ie.£2 discount if paid in advance from Grouchos ( Dundee, from mon 11th april) or from Sarah at classes. On door £12 or £9 (stu) on the night. Groups can reserve a table for between 8 & 12 people by emailing sarahbrox@gmail.com. Information about the band, Son al Son was formed in 2008. Its line-up is made up of musicians from Cuba, Ricardo Fernandes Pompa,(Lead Vocals and Bongos) Eric Alfonso (Congas) and from Scotland, Bob Thomson (Bass) and Lorne Cowieson (Trumpet)with Lino Rocha on Vocals and Guiro and Simon Gall on Piano and Vocals. As the name suggests, Son al Son play son, a style of music made popular in 1920’s Havana and more recently in the film “Buena Vista Social Club”. To this day, songs like Chan Chan, El Cuarto Del Tula and Dos Gardenias are played in cafes and bars across Cuba,Son al Son have recreated this sound to bring a little bit of Havana to you. Son al Son play a lively set of traditional Cuban songs guaranteed to get your feet tapping and out of your seat in no time, Gozar! Enjoy!.

Improvers Rueda class starting Tue 29th March

Guest teacher Azzey – 27th March

(75 mins each) on the 27th of March at 3:30pm, £5/£4 students or £8/£6 for both classes. Fri 1st April 8pm till 12.30am at The Chamber Suite, Panmure St, Dundee DD1 1ED. Free salsa class at 8.15pm, tickets on the door, £5/ £4 ( stu), money goes to the Azul Wasi project in Peru for Street children, come & have fun & help the children too !

2 NEW beginners salsa classes, 2 different styles, Entry to new beginners classes only in first 2 weeks or starting to join. Please come 10 min early for first class to register. See classses page on website for directions .
1) Chamber Suite classes in NEW YEAR.
Classes start Tue 18th Jan at Chamber Suite, Panmure St, Dundee ( behind McManus galleries).
NEW Beginners 10 week class Cuban style salsa 6.45-7.30pm (this will lead onto learning the Cuban wheel dance, Rueda).
Improvers/intermediate cross body salsa class 7.30-8.15pm
Cuban Rueda Improvers/ Intermed class 8.15-9.15pm
Beginners Cuban class course £25 for 10 week block ( pay for block at 1st or 2nd Class), or £4 per class paid weekly. Other 2 classes £4 per class, or multi- class deal £15 for 5 classes if paid in advance per class course.

Christmas Latin Quarter Party classes & night – Tue 14th Dec

Christmas Party Latin Quarter in December will be on Tuesday 14th Dec at The Chamber Suite.Chamber Suite Christmas classes (1 week only & our last classes of 2010 ! )
6.30-7.15pm Bachata Improvers level (some Bachata experience desirable)
7.15-8pm Shines & Styling -Spice up your salsa dancing ! (anyone welcome)- all levels
8pm-8.45pm Christmas Rueda (anyone welcome)
All 3 classes £7, 2 classes for £5, 1 for £3, all money goes to Azul Wasi project as usual.
Dancing for anyone after classes till 11ish (closing time numbers permitting ), £1 contribution for entry after 8.45pm goes to the charity for non class attenders. All money goes to Azul wasi project.
Bring Santa hats or other festive wear to party, will be party games with prizes ! Please pass the word.
Remember Christmas Vouchers for Azul Wasi are on sale too ranging from £5, see website for the list.
