Band at Duke’s Corner, Dundee- Sat 11th June

Band Dias Quartet on this Saturday (11th June) at The Duke’s Corner, Dundee. They mainly do Brazilian stuff but also a bit of Salsa/Cuban, and it’s free entry. Music starts at 9.30pm.

NEXT TUE is the last week to join the NEW Beginners course in Cross body style Salsa at The Chamber Suite on Tuesdays at 6.45pm.  Full course is 7 weeks now for £22, to be paid in full on first week, or £4 per class.  Classes at The Chamber Suite, Panmure St. DD1 1ED  6.45pm -7.30pm, come 10 min early for first week to register & pay for classes, all money goes to Azul Wasi Street childrens project in Peru.  Email sarahbrox@gmail.com for more details.   Pop a poster up if you can help advertise.

Remember from next tue ( 31st May) a NEW 8 week beginners course in Cross body style Salsa starts, full course £25, pay in full on first week.   Anyone who has been attending the beginners Rueda class at The Chamber suite or has done the basic Rueda moves elsewhere are welcome to move up to the Improvers Rueda class at 8.15 on tues. Latin night at Abertay Uni – Wed 11th May

Elena invites people to an evening at Abertay Student Union, full of Salsa, Bachata and Merengue, on Wednesday, the 11th of May, everyone is welcome to join in. It starts off at 8.30 pm with a beginners Salsa class and the entrance is free. Remember £2 DISCOUNT on pre paid tickets from Grouchos ( Dundee) for LATIN QUARTER CHARITY SALSA BAND NIGHT.  Spice up your life with Latin band Son Al Son, bound to get up up dancing or toe tapping !   The Friary is a large hall with huge dance floor, The Friary is the large building on left on Tullideph Rd as turn off Lochee Road, Dundee DD2 2PN.   Tickets £10 (£7 students) in advance from Grouchos, or £12 or £9 (stu) on the door.   Groups can reserve a table for between 8 & 12 people by emailing sarahbrox@gmail.com.  Please help advertise , click on the poster & pop one up somewhere if you can.
Doors open at 8pm with a FREE salsa beginners class at 8.15pm, band will play 2 sets starting with the 1st  around 9.15, evening ends at 12.30am, latin music for dancing inbetween band sets.  There’s a raffle too and an AUCTION for a Umbrian hamper with goods straight from Italy.  Money raised for the Azul Wasi project for street children near Cusco, Peru.

Tickets on sale now for LATIN QUARTER CHARITY SALSA BAND NIGHT with Son Al Son, Latin band on Sat 7th May at The Friary, Tullideph Rd, Dundee DD2 2PN   Doors open 8pm, salsa beginners class at 8.15pm, on till 12.30am.  Raffle too.  Venue has large wooden dance floor.  Money raised for the Azul Wasi project for street children near Cusco, Peru.

Information about the band, Son al Son was formed in 2008. Its line-up is made up of musicians from Cuba, Ricardo Fernandes Pompa,(Lead Vocals and Bongos) Eric Alfonso (Congas) and from Scotland, Bob Thomson (Bass) and Lorne Cowieson (Trumpet)with Lino Rocha on Vocals and Guiro and Simon Gall on Piano and Vocals.  As the name suggests, Son al Son play son, a style of music made popular in 1920’s Havana and more recently in the film “Buena Vista Social Club”. To this day, songs like Chan Chan, El Cuarto Del Tula and Dos Gardenias are played in cafes and bars across Cuba,Son al Son have recreated this sound to bring a little bit of Havana to you.  Son al Son play a lively set of traditional Cuban songs guaranteed to get your feet tapping and out of your seat in no time, Gozar! Enjoy!.
