Last week to join BEGINNERS CUBAN SALSA Classes@ The Chamber Suite
19 09 2011This Tuesday is last week to join NEW Beginners Cuban Salsa class 6.45pm @ The Chamber Suite. 9 week block left £27 or £4 per class. Classes will begin with partnerwork and later lead on to learning how to dance the fun Cuban Rueda ( circle dance where you swop partners).
Also on Tuesdays. 7.30-Improvers/ Intermediate cross body salsa, 8.15- Cuban Rueda ( no new entrants unless have Rueda experience). Classes £4 per class or £15 pass for 5 classes. All proceeds from classes goes to the Azul Wasi project for street children near Cusco in Peru. Please pop a poster up somewhere if you can.

LATIN QUARTER presents a CHARITY Valentines Latin Ball at The Apex City Quay Hotel &
Spa, 1 West Victoria Dock Road, Dundee, DD1 3JP on Saturday February 12th
2011 with Son Al Son, Cuban music band. Doors open at 8pm on till 1am, come along
and feel the Cuban spirit with a live band, free beginners Salsa class at
8.15pm. There will be a Raffle on the night and a dance competition.
Tickets £12 ( students £9) on the door or £2 DISCOUNT for tickets
purchased in advance from sarahbrox@gmail.com or Grouchos (Dundee), tickets on sale
from 15th Jan 2011. Money raised goes to Azul Wasi street children project near Cusco, Peru.
Groups welcome, tables can be reserved for 8 or more if

Information about the band, Son al Son was formed in 2008. Its line-up is made up of musicians from Cuba, Ricardo Fernandes Pompa,(Lead Vocals and Bongos) Eric Alfonso (Congas) and from Scotland, Bob Thomson (Bass) and Lorne Cowieson (Trumpet)with Lino Rocha on Vocals and Guiro and Simon Gall on Piano and Vocals.
As the name suggests, Son al Son play son, a style of music made popular in 1920’s Havana and more recently in the film “Buena Vista Social Club”. To this day, songs like Chan Chan, El Cuarto Del Tula and Dos Gardenias are played in cafes and bars across Cuba, Son al Son have recreated this sound to bring a little bit of Havana to you. Son al Son play a lively set of traditional Cuban songs guaranteed to get your feet tapping and out of your seat in no time, Gozar! Enjoy!.

2 NEW beginners salsa classes, 2 different styles, email to reserve spaces if want to ensure a place otherwise turn up for class within the first 2 weeks of them starting to join. Please come 10 min early for first class to register.
1) Chamber Suite classes in NEW YEAR.Classes start Tue 18th Jan at Chamber Suite, Panmure St, Dundee ( behind McManus galleries).
NEW Beginners 10 week class Cuban style salsa 6.45-7.30pm (this will lead onto learning the Cuban wheel dance, Rueda), join class first 2 weeks only, email for places.
Improvers/intermediate cross body salsa class 7.30-8.15pm
Cuban Rueda Improvers/ Intermed class 8.15-9.15pm
Beginners Cuban class course £25 for 10 week block ( pay for block at 1st or 2nd Class), or £4 per class paid weekly. Other 2 classes £4 per class, or multi- class deal £15 for 5 classes if paid in advance per class course.
2) NEW Beginners salsa classes ( cross body style) starting on Thursday Jan 27th at MONO, Dundee University Union building, downstairs, 6-7pm. 10 week block £30 ( stu), £32 otherwise.
