LQ SPICE NIGHT – 23 June- Chamber East

Latin Quarter SPICE night – Fri 23rd June @ Chamber East, Chamber buildings, Panmure St Dundee DD1 1EP (behind the McManus galleries). There will be latin music to groove too, an Argentine tango taster class (8.15pm), Tribal belly dancing performance ( later in Eve), and a Beginners taster salsa class at 7.30pm. Chamber East has a lovely big wooden dance floor, anyone welcome, bring friends & family. Doors open 7.30pm, on till 12.30am. Entry £8 full price or £5 for students, pay on door or tickets from Tuesday Deaf Hub salsa classes. There will be a raffle too. All money raised goes to the Azul Wasi project for former street children in Peru. Email LQsalsadundee@gmail.com for more details.

SON dance workshop – Tues 30 May
21 05 2017Son dance taster class – Tuesday 30th May, 7-8pm @ The Deaf Hub. This class is open to anyone who has completed a 10 week beginners salsa course. Son is the forefather of Salsa originating in Eastern Cuba. Class is £5.

BIG THANKS
21 05 2017Big Thanks to all who came to the Salsa Ceilidh last night at the Friary. We raised £410 for Azul Wasi. Thanks to The Phenobarbitones who played for free, to Bravehearts bar, The Friary, Patrick & Ronan for the door, Rosalia & Fiona for help on the night and for the raffle prize donations.

LATIN QUARTER SALSA CEILIDH with the live Ceilidh band, The Phenobarbitones @ The Friary, Tullideph Rd, Dundee, DD2 2PN on Saturday May 20th, 2017, 8pm- 12.30am. Free Salsa beginners class at 8pm. Band will play 2 Ceilidh music sets, will be plenty of latin music too throughout the evening. Tickets £8 ( £5 students) in advance from Latin Quarter tuesday classes or on the door. Contact LQsalsadundee@gmail.com for more details. Will be a bar and a raffle on the night. Tables can be reserved via same email for 8 minimum for prepaid ticket holders. Anyone welcome, no partner necessary, will be someone at the function to show you the Ceilidh dances if you don’t know them. Proceeds go via Uk charity Peace Child International for the Azul Wasi project in Peru near Cusco, home for former street children.

Latin Quarter charity social – Saturday 25th March at the Forthill Sports Club (function suite), Fintry Place, Broughty Ferry, DD5 3BL, see directions below & google map. Doors open at 8pm with a beginners taster salsa class followed by latin music & dancing till 12.30am. Entry to social £5/£4 (students), pay on door. Anyone welcome, no partner necessary. From bottom road from Dundee towards broughty ferry ( A930), turn left up fort street which leads onto forthill road, go up hill then take right turn onto Fintry Place, when you see school on right side, take left turn down a small road, signposted to sports centre on fence, follow road around to right, continue to car park. Building is to right hand side & upstairs (not sports centre on left side).

Last week to join New Beginners Cuban style Salsa classes – Tues 31st Jan

Tuesday 31st January is the last week to join the New Beginner Cuban Style Salsa classes at the Deaf Hub. See Class tab for directions. 9 week progressive class, £31.50 for the remaining 9 week pass or £5 a class (Students who are already competent in cross body salsa can join week 3 or 4, please email in advance). Class will involve partner dancing initially leading on to the Cuban Rueda ( wheel dance). No partner necessary, anyone welcome. Time 6.15- 7.10pm. Casual clothing is fine with shoes that stay on feet securely with a slippy sole preferably.
