Information about the band, Son al Son was formed in 2008. Its line-up is made up of musicians from Cuba, Ricardo Fernandes Pompa,(Lead Vocals and Bongos) Eric Alfonso (Congas) and from Scotland, Bob Thomson (Bass) and Lorne Cowieson (Trumpet)with Lino Rocha on Vocals and Guiro and Simon Gall on Piano and Vocals.  As the name suggests, Son al Son play son, a style of music made popular in 1920’s Havana and more recently in the film “Buena Vista Social Club”. To this day, songs like Chan Chan, El Cuarto Del Tula and Dos Gardenias are played in cafes and bars across Cuba,Son al Son have recreated this sound to bring a little bit of Havana to you.  Son al Son play a lively set of traditional Cuban songs guaranteed to get your feet tapping and out of your seat in no time, Gozar! Enjoy!.

Thanks to everyone that came , helped out and-or supported last Saturday at the Valentines  CHARITY Latin Ball at The Apex Hotel,  overall we raised £819  (after outgoings) .  We had a lot of fun and dancing and at the same time are giving hope and happiness to the children at the  Azul Wasi street childrens project in Peru & that is great !

Doors open at 8pm, SON al SON , a GREAT Cuban band will entertain you in style playing 2 sets starting around 9pm, with a beginners salsa class at 8.15pm.  There are themed cocktails available at £4.95 each and bar snacks too, nachos with meat chilli & cheese (£4.95) or veggie chilli & cheese (£4), bowl of dorritos ( 60p) & other snacks  !  Theres a raffle with some great prizes, £20 restaurant voucher, Ice skating tickets, DCA vouchers and much more and some exclusive CUBAN goods for auction.   In between band sets popular latin music such as Salsa, bachata, merengue is played to get you up dancing or just relax & enjoy the music.   Please pass the word and bring friends.  Money raised goes to Azul Wasi street children project near Cusco, Peru.
