Salsa Dundee

Big thanks to everyone who came to the LQ Christmas Social at the deaf hub this week. Thanks to Tania for teaching the Kizomba fusion class which was great and for helping with the classes this year and to you all for participating in the party games ! and for the raffle prize donations. Thanks to Scott the care taker too. We raised £180 (after outgoings) for the children at Azul Wasi in Peru which is great.

The last Latin Quarter dance classes at the Deaf Hub before the festive break will be 12th December with the Christmas Social folks. Classes to start back on 9th or 16th Jan, will confirm which soon.

The next Latin Quarter charity social is on Tuesday 12th December @ The Deaf Hub which will be our Christmas Social with festive dance party games, a raffle and mince pies. More details of workshops & timings to follow soon.

BIG thanks to everyone who came last night to the Latin Quarter Charity Social for the Azul Wasi home in Peru at the dundee social club. It was lovely to see so many new faces and a few folks I haven’t seen in a few years too !

A really big thank you to everyone who made the effort to come from Aberdeen, perthshire, Edinburgh area and elsewhere it made for a great atmosphere in the room with a lovely dance family. A few pics to follow once sorted them, if anyone else got some nice ones can you send to me please, I like to try to check with any prominent people on them first before posting online.

We raised £493 (after outgoings) for the charity which is fantastic, BIG thanks to hamish for doing the men’s styling class, to Ann for doing the door again, to shane and deirdre for helping do raffle / door , a really big thanks to tania who withputvher ongoing support the deaf hub classes and the socials wouldnt run as smoothy, she always helps with the set up/down for the events and thanks to a few of you who stayed on to help tidy up at the end. Thanks to the dundee social club for a great venue. We had a lovely crowd of musicians present from Aberdeen which I didnt realise the extent of until the end of the night when they played during tidy up time ! thanks to Sebastian for playing the bongos during the eve and friends for coming down, was lovely to hear.

Thanks for all the raffle prize donations too, and especially to Phil for the sol y sombra voucher and to Bill for the sea kayaking voucher.

Hope everyone can make the last LQ social of 2023 at the Deaf Hub, on 12th December for Christmas festivities, will be music for dancing, a few Christmas party games, mince pies etc, details to follow shortly.

Latin Quarter Social with Mens & Ladies Styling class

Friday 24th November @ Dundee Social Club, 1 Thistle Street, Dundee DD3 7RF
This venue has a large dance floor, please pass the word. Come in the front door & the room is upstairs.

7pm – FREE Salsa class for beginners
7.30pm – Mens & Ladies Salsa (On1) Styling Class – £5. We’ll learn a short sequence /choreography with shines (fancy footwork) and body movement that you can incorporate into social salsa dancing. Separate sequence for leaders & followers. Also fun for beginners.

8.30 pm to midnight – latin music for dancing (Salsa, bachata & a little merengue/kizomba) – Social only £5

Combo ticket, Social & Styling class £8. Entry for children, £2 for social.

Tuesday 14th November @ the Deaf Hub, Old Mill, 23, Brown St, Dundee, DD1 5EF.

Bachata workshop for Beginners & Improvers at 7.30pm, followed by the Latin social from 8.30pm till 11pm.
Anyone is welcome to come to the workshop and social. It’s an opportunity to meet other dancers and practice moves from classes.
Bachata workshop only – £5, Social £3, Combo Workshop & social £6. CASH ONLY.

There will be NO bar but you can bring your own drinks including alcoholic ones. There should be a few snacks and soft drinks on sale.

There is a raffle, prizes are always very welcome if you have any donations, either bring to classes in advance or just on the night.

All money raised goes to the Azul Wasi project in Peru (except room hire fees).

There is no parking directly outside venue, park on Brown Street instead.
