Big thanks to everyone who came along to the Latin Quarter social @ the Deaf Hub last Tuesday, we raised £140.25 (after outgoings) for the Azul Wasi home in peru. Thank you to everyone who donated raffle prizes and to Tania for all her help with the classes and room set up/ down and to the other elves ! who helped tidy up at the end.

Latin Quarter Social Tuesday 8th July @ the Deaf Hub

Bachata Fusion class @ 7.25pm – The class will be suitable for total beginners and improvers plus. Bachata is a dance from the Dominican Republic and often danced equally at latin socials along with Salsa, so good to get a few steps to share on the dance floor !
Followed by the social dancing 8.15pm till 10.30pm.
Anyone is welcome to come to the dance class and social. It’s an opportunity to meet other dancers and practice moves from classes.
Bachata class only – £5, Social only £3,
Combo Workshop & social £7. Student Combo ticket – £5 with ID.
Children, £2 for social only. CASH ONLY.
There will be NO bar but you can bring your own drinks including alcoholic ones & snacks (no peanuts though please incase anyone has an allergy) . There will be some snacks and soft drinks on sale in the cafe area next door at the Deaf Hub. Its also a Community shop, please support the Deaf Hub by buying drinks & snacks there if you can.
Will also be a raffle, donations always welcome.
Money raised for the Azul Wasi Project in Peru for former street children via Peace Child International.

A very big thank you to everyone who came along last Friday for the Retro night, and to everyone who travelled from afar and those of you who came dressed up ! Some really fab outfits and the wigs were out of this world ! Fantastic. Thanks for being so brave and making the night special.

We raised £319 for the Azul Wasi home in peru, which is great.
Big thanks to Tania as ever ! for all her help on the night and with class, to Ann for doing the door and to Angie for helping sell raffle tickets.

Big thanks to Joanni for the photo booth, if anyone doesn’t mind sharing their photo booth pics with me once you get them, then I can post on facebook. I would love to see them.

Also I would be interested to hear feedback from those who attended the Retro night, whether you liked hearing music mostly from the 60s to 90s with a few newer tracks thrown in ? Who would be interested in another occasional themed night , maybe 80s to 2000s for the next one, am visualising fluorescent clothing?? ? LATIN QUARTER RETRO NIGHT SOCIAL

Friday 13th June @ DUNDEE SOCIAL CLUB
1 Thistle Street, Dundee DD3 7RF

7.30pm – 8.15pm – Unisex Shines Class. Suitable for total beginners and all levels. We will learn a routine of fancy footwork shines & styling to add some spice to your social dancing !

8.15pm to 8.45pm – Free Salsa beginners class for anyone attending the social.
8.45pm to Midnight – Music for dancing

This will be the first Latin Quarter RETRO night, I’ll be digging out my old DJ playlist CDs ! from 2002/3 when I first started Latin Quarter socials and selecting the best classic tunes. Expect some cool Salsa & Bachata tracks from the 60s/70s with a few more recent classics thrown in, together with a splash of older Merengue & Kizomba tunes !

Come as you are or dress in something Retro inspired !

This venue has a large dance floor, come in the front door & the function room is upstairs.

Class only £5, Social only £5
FULL Combo ticket, Class & Social £8
Student Combo tic – £5 with ID
Children, £2 for social only. Children need to leave venue by 10pm.

Our next Latin Quarter Social is friday 13th June @ Dundee Social Club, this is a Retro night social, so expect some classic salsa & bachata golden oldies from the 60s/70s with a few more recent classics thrown in, together with a splash of older Merengue & Kizomba tunes !
