A REALLY BIG thanks to everyone who came to the LQ Valentines social on Friday at The Black Watch Club. We raised £334 for the Azul Wasi home in Peru (after outgoings). Thanks to the club for the room and lovely decorations, to Fiona for doing the door again, to Tania for helping with the class and set up/ down of the room and Shane for helping with raffle tickets. Thanks to anyone who brought raffle prizes. It was lovely to see so many new faces there, thanks for coming and supporting Azul Wasi. Friday 16th February, 7.30pm to midnight @ The Blackwatch Club
20 Arthurstone Terrace, Dundee DD4 6RS.

7.30pm -Mens & Ladies Styling class & “Battle of the Valentines”, £5
8.15pm FREE Salsa class for total beginners
8.45 pm to midnight – latin music for dancing (Salsa, bachata & a little merengue/kizomba) – with a couple of Valentine fun games – Social only £5

Combo ticket, Social & Styling class £8
Entry for children, £2 for social only.
All money raised goes to the Azul Wasi project in Peru.

This venue has a large dance floor, please pass the word. Come in the front door & the room is upstairs. There is a bar.
Anyone is welcome to come to the workshop and social. It’s an opportunity to meet other dancers, practice moves from classes and who knows maybe meet your valentine !! Dress to impress.

There will be a raffle, donations are always very welcome, either bring to classes in advance or just on the night.

Big thanks to everyone who came to the LQ deaf hub social and bachata workshops on Tuesday. We raised £175 for the Azul Wsi home in Peru ( after room hire). Thanks to Susan, Hamish and Tania for helping teach the bachata classes. Thanks to anyone who brought a raffle prize too and to Ann and Shane for helping with raffle. It was lovely to see some of the salsa beginners joining the social for the first time too.

Latin Quarter Charity Social with Dominican/traditional Bachata Workshop

Tuesday 30th January @ the Deaf Hub, Old Mill, 23, Brown St, Dundee, DD1 5EF

Dominican bachata is the original style of bachata dance ( & music), which comes from the Dominican Republic, characterized by fancy footwork and playful style. Workshop is for beginners & improvers at 7.30pm, followed by the social from 8.30pm till 10.30pm. Beginners will learn the basic bachata steps & turns, improvers plus will do the Dominican.

Anyone is welcome to come to the workshop and social. It’s an opportunity to meet other dancers and practice moves from classes.
Bachata workshop only – £5, Social £3, Combo Workshop & social £6. CASH ONLY.

There will be NO bar but you can bring your own drinks including alcoholic ones. There will be a few snacks and soft drinks on sale.

There is a raffle, prizes are always very welcome if you have any donations, either bring to classes in advance or just on the night.

All money raised goes to the Azul Wasi project in Peru (except room hire fees).

There is no parking directly outside venue, park on Brown Street instead.

Beginners class closed to new entrants now

Latin Quarter Deaf Hub classes are now CLOSED to anymore new entrants unless you have already emailed the teacher to reserve a space or already know the basic steps (email LQsalsadundee@gmail.com if this is the case).

So please don’t come next tuesday as no more room. Thanks to everyone who has expressed an interest, a record number of 80 enquiries this time.

However there is a Kizomba fusion class ( suitable for beginners) with Tania at 3 session street this thursday at 7pm and a social with DJ Chilango son from 8pm onwards.

Also a Latin Quarter bachata workshop ( @7.30pm) & social at Deaf Hub on 30th Jan, next tuesday, which is suitable for beginners.

New Beginners Class – 23rd Jan last week to join

Thanks to everyone who came to the Deaf Hub classes tonight braving the cold and given the weather. It was ok in Dundee in the end but am aware it won’t have been in some places.

For anyone who reserved a space and didn’t make it along tonight to the new beginners salsa class don’t worry, next tuesday 23rd Jan is fine to join, as we will be repeating what did tonight and will add on something if have time, but next tuesday is the last week to join this class at 6.15pm. Remember its cash only and please come 10 min early to register & pay, so we can start on time.

NEW Latin Quarter Beginners Salsa class starting Tuesday 16th Jan, 6.15-7.15pm, at The Deaf Hub, Old Mill, 23, Brown St, Dundee. DD1 5EF, can join first 2 weeks only.

10 week block pass £35 or £5 per class weekly. CASH ONLY. Beginners class dancers please come 10 to 15 min early to register & pay.
